It is perfectly possible to open a file from a remote destination, say ftp://joe@example.com/var/www/index.html. But when trying to open another file, via "File -> Open..." kdevelop doesn't open ftp://joe@example.com/var/www/, instead it would show /var/www/ in the location bar and show the contents of the Home dir in the file browser. Same happens when you start creating a new project and try to set a project directory on a remote site; you would be able to select ftp://joe@example.com/var/www/, but after the file browser dialog is closed, the input field for the project home path only shows /var/www/. By the way, in Kate, the same procedure works: Open a file from ftp://joe@example.com/var/www/, go to "File -> Open..." again, and the file browser will open the location and folder of the remote site where the first file is.
Fixed in kdevplatform-1.0.0-r1. Thanks for reporting.
Sorry, this bug is still existent for me. Using kdev* 1.0.1 and KDE 4.4.5. However, I've posted it to upstream, because I think it should be fixed there: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=245540 (Sorry for reopening so late. I haven't had any projects with remote connections since I've reported the bug, and I forgot to check the fix when it was closed.)
Upstream say that this is fixed in 4.1.1, could you confirm that please? Thanks.
I've been working a lot with sftp in kdevelop the past month, it's definitely fixed
Ok, now it works for me, too.
