Hello, long time has passed since I used tracd standalone on my gentoo x64. Since them, tracd and python are being upgraded to a newer version. I haven't modified tracd configuration files. Now I need to use it, but unfortunately it doesn't start. If I call tracd from terminal with option filled into /etc/conf.d/tracd it works fine; if I run /etc/init.d/tracd double red exclamation marks appear. If i run /etc/init.d/tracd --debug a strange things caught my attention: + LC_ALL=C + /bin/sleep 0.1 + (( i++ )) + (( i<10 )) + is_daemon_running /usr/bin/python /var/run/tracd.pid + local cmd pidfile pids pid + [[ 2 == \1 ]] + local i j=2 + (( i=0 )) + (( i<j-1 )) + cmd=' /usr/bin/python' + shift + (( i++ )) + (( i<j-1 )) + pidfile=/var/run/tracd.pid ++ pidof /usr/bin/python ++ local arg args ++ for arg in '"$@"' ++ [[ python == \r\p\c\.\n\f\s\d ]] ++ args=' '\''/usr/bin/python'\''' ++ eval /bin/pidof -x ''\''/usr/bin/python'\''' +++ /bin/pidof -x /usr/bin/python + pids= + [[ -z '' ]] + return 1 + LC_ALL=C + /bin/sleep 0.1 + (( i++ )) + (( i<10 )) + is_daemon_running /usr/bin/python /var/run/tracd.pid + local cmd pidfile pids pid + [[ 2 == \1 ]] + local i j=2 + (( i=0 )) + (( i<j-1 )) + cmd=' /usr/bin/python' + shift + (( i++ )) + (( i<j-1 )) + pidfile=/var/run/tracd.pid ++ pidof /usr/bin/python ++ local arg args ++ for arg in '"$@"' ++ [[ python == \r\p\c\.\n\f\s\d ]] ++ args=' '\''/usr/bin/python'\''' ++ eval /bin/pidof -x ''\''/usr/bin/python'\''' +++ /bin/pidof -x /usr/bin/python + pids= + [[ -z '' ]] + return 1 It seems that into the for loop arg is always "rcp.nfsd" instead "python", but I cannot figure why! Someone can help me, please??? This problem occured on my x86. Calling the start-stop-daemon (the line from /etc/init.d/tracd) from terminal(bash) works fine. The init script fails with the same command. My workaround is editing the /etc/init.d/tracd script from: --exec /usr/bin/python -- /usr/bin/tracd to: --exec /usr/bin/tracd --
I had the same issue with www-apps/trac-0.11.5, I tried to reproduce from the shell (login as tracd and root) without success. The issue disappeared today after I've switched to openrc and from baselayout-1 to baselayout-2 r17715 ~ # emerge --info Portage 2.1.8.3 (hardened/linux/x86/10.0, gcc-4.3.4, glibc-2.11.2-r0, 2.6.32.2-xxxx-std-ipv4-32 i686) ================================================================= System uname: Linux-2.6.32.2-xxxx-std-ipv4-32-i686-Intel-R-_Atom-TM-_CPU_230_@_1.60GHz-with-gentoo-2.0.1 Timestamp of tree: Thu, 19 Aug 2010 01:00:20 +0000 app-shells/bash: 4.0_p37 dev-lang/python: 2.6.2-r1 sys-apps/baselayout: 2.0.1 sys-apps/openrc: 0.6.1-r1 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.6-r2 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.65 sys-devel/automake: 1.9.6-r2, 1.10.2, 1.11.1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.20.1-r1 sys-devel/gcc: 4.3.4 sys-devel/gcc-config: 1.4.1 sys-devel/libtool: 2.2.6b virtual/os-headers: 2.6.30-r1 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" ACCEPT_LICENSE="* -@EULA" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-O2 -march=i686 -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /var/bind" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/ca-certificates.conf /etc/env.d /etc/eselect/postgresql /etc/fonts/fonts.conf /etc/gconf /etc/gentoo-release /etc/revdep-rebuild /etc/sandbox.d /etc/terminfo" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -march=i686 -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="assume-digests distlocks fixpackages news parallel-fetch protect-owned sandbox sfperms strict unmerge-logs unmerge-orphans userfetch" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://distfiles.gentoo.org" LANG="en_GB.UTF-8" LDFLAGS="-Wl,-O1 -Wl,--as-needed" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_CONFIGROOT="/" PORTAGE_RSYNC_OPTS="--recursive --links --safe-links --perms --times --compress --force --whole-file --delete --stats --timeout=180 --exclude=/distfiles --exclude=/local --exclude=/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" USE="acl berkdb bzip2 cli cracklib crypt cups cxx dri gdbm git gpm hardened iconv mmx modules mudflap ncurses nls nptlonly openmp pam pcre perl pic postgres pppd python readline reflection session spl sse sse2 ssl sysfs tcpd trac urandom x86 xorg zlib" ALSA_CARDS="ali5451 als4000 atiixp atiixp-modem bt87x ca0106 cmipci emu10k1 emu10k1x ens1370 ens1371 es1938 es1968 fm801 hda-intel intel8x0 intel8x0m maestro3 trident usb-audio via82xx via82xx-modem ymfpci" ALSA_PCM_PLUGINS="adpcm alaw asym copy dmix dshare dsnoop empty extplug file hooks iec958 ioplug ladspa lfloat linear meter mmap_emul mulaw multi null plug rate route share shm softvol" APACHE2_MODULES="actions alias auth_basic authn_alias authn_anon authn_dbm authn_default authn_file authz_dbm authz_default authz_groupfile authz_host authz_owner authz_user autoindex cache cgi cgid dav dav_fs dav_lock deflate dir disk_cache env expires ext_filter file_cache filter headers include info log_config logio mem_cache mime mime_magic negotiation rewrite setenvif speling status unique_id userdir usertrack vhost_alias" ELIBC="glibc" INPUT_DEVICES="keyboard mouse evdev" KERNEL="linux" LCD_DEVICES="bayrad cfontz cfontz633 glk hd44780 lb216 lcdm001 mtxorb ncurses text" RUBY_TARGETS="ruby18" USERLAND="GNU" VIDEO_CARDS="apm ark chips cirrus cyrix dummy fbdev glint i128 i740 intel mach64 mga neomagic nsc nv r128 radeon rendition s3 s3virge savage siliconmotion sis sisusb tdfx tga trident tseng v4l vesa via vmware voodoo" XTABLES_ADDONS="quota2 psd pknock lscan length2 ipv4options ipset ipp2p iface geoip fuzzy condition tee tarpit sysrq steal rawnat logmark ipmark dhcpmac delude chaos account" Unset: CPPFLAGS, CTARGET, EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS, FFLAGS, INSTALL_MASK, LC_ALL, LINGUAS, PORTAGE_COMPRESS, PORTAGE_COMPRESS_FLAGS, PORTAGE_RSYNC_EXTRA_OPTS Similar issue : http://bugs.gentoo.org/321135 http://bugs.gentoo.org/194679
This should be fixed with openrc and newer Trac.
