The application starts, shows thumbnails across the top, but crashes
as soon as I open a photo.

It segfaults in transform_nocms8_3dnow() due to reading at a bogus array offset.

I sent a patch upstream to their mailing list, but have gotten no response. I've opened a bug now, but I think they're busy working on rawstudio 2.0.

I forgot to update here: the upstream bug (see URL) was resolved WONTFIX.

Any chance of getting this fix in portage?

This is solved by rawstudio-2.0 which is in Portage then.    Closing.
