development-sources-2.6.0_beta8 does not merge kernel source to /usr/src/linux-2.6.0-test Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.emerge development-sources 2. 3. Actual Results: its unpacked and all looks normal but there is no kernel source in /usr/src no /usr/src/linux-2.6.0-test8 is created even on another users system my linux-2.6.0-test8 already existed i just emerge -C mine so i could test his problem and i had nothing but the files emerge -C leaves behind after a seemingly successful merge Expected Results: to find kernel sources under /usr/src/linux-2.6.0-test8 Portage 2.0.49-r15 (default-x86-1.4, gcc-3.3.1, glibc-2.3.2-r1, 2.6.0-test8) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.0-test8 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) Gentoo Base System version 1.4.3.10 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-march=athlon-xp -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -mfpmath=sse" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" COMPILER="gcc3" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /var/qmail/control /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/kde/3.1/share/config /usr/share/config" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -mcpu=i686 -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="sandbox ccache autoaddcvs" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://gentoo.oregonstate.edu http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/gentoo" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 oss apm avi crypt cups encode foomaticdb gif jpeg gnome libg++ libwww mad mikmod motif mpeg ncurses nls pdflib png quicktime spell truetype xml2 xmms xv zlib directfb alsa gdbm berkdb slang readline arts svga ggi tcltk X sdl gpm tcpd pam ssl perl python esd imlib oggvorbis opengl gphoto2 cdr 3dnow aalib acpi acpi4linux amd autofs cgi dga doc dv dvd dvdr ethereal evo fbcon fbdev gtk2 gtkhtml imlib2 lcd mmx mozilla moznocompose moznoirc moznomail offensive openssh radeon ruby S3TC sse stencil-buffer tiff usb X509 xvid -kde -gtk -qt"
development-sources-2.6.0_beta8 does not merge kernel source to /usr/src/linux-2.6.0-test8 ^^^ sorry dont copy and paste in ahurry!! cut of the 8, apologies
rm development-sources-2.6.0_beta8 cp development-sources-2.6.0_beta7 development-sources-2.6.0_beta8 emerge development-sources-2.6.0_beta8 works as expected its the ebuild with the alsa flag thats broken
has been clarified invalid. Works after all :)
evbuild with the alsa flag thats broken? can you explain more please.
Why does it merge to linux-2.6.0-test8-patchset-0.1 rather than linux-2.6.0-test8 as it did for me? Incidently alsa worked fine for me despite having alsa use flag disabled when emerging dev-sources.
it mnerges to the patchset dir when the patchset is applied (check out the ebuild sources) its technicall incorrect moerging it to a default directory when it isnt what it claims to be.
I'd have rather seen it stay as 2.6.0-test8 myself, or go 2.6.0-test8-r1, as patchset.xx.xy-blah blah blah, darn name getting as long as the patches, but I don't care. I set GPV=0 and got what I wanted. Incidentally, I think people were confused about the alsa thing, enabling or disabling made no difference to the kernel, just that the people who have USE=alsa would get the kernel sources to provide the virtual alsa that kept alsa-driver from being pulled in. Now theres no useflag, it sets virtual/alsa across the board. Hope that doesnt cause problems...

dev-sources isnt part of x86-kernel, but I deal with this mostly, with latexer/lostlogic. This bug was originally invalid, and is now closed.
