The status bar is at the bottom of any OpenOffice.org window, and it contains the Zoom slider, line, page and section information, insert/overstrike indicator, recent save indicator, default color info, and similar. In my OpenOffice, the status bar is often completely blank. Occasionally, I am able to get the Zoom slider to redraw by clicking on it. The binary ebuild is not affected. On the off chance it might be related, I have tried adding this to ~/.kde4/env/gtk-qt-engine.rc.sh: export SAL_GTK_USE_PIXMAPPAINT=1 but it did not resolve the problem. I have upgraded to 3.2.1, while also upgrading KDE to 4.4.4. Now, the status bar works -- good, however other bizarre artifacts remain -- bad. For example: The Dashboard is blank apart from the icons and icon titles (Text Document, etc.) The OpenOffice.org logo is missing. That's relatively harmless, but the menus behave strangely. In View | Grid, none of the checkmarks are visible. I am able to tell whether snap-to-grid is enabled or not by testing it. In View | Toolbars, the Circle and Ellipse toolbar is missing. In View | Toolbars, toolbars which are not activated have checkmarks. If I run the mouse pointer down the menu, the checkmarks disappear. The yellow handles do not appear on objects which are supposed to have them, such as circles and ellipses. This is making it very difficult to use OpenOffice.
