Could you guys run: $ qlist xorg-server |egrep "Xephyr" /usr/share/man/man1/Xephyr.1.bz2 /usr/lib/debug/usr/bin/Xephyr.debug /usr/bin/Xephyr (from portage-utils package)
(In reply to comment #7) > Could you guys run: > > $ qlist xorg-server |egrep "Xephyr" My own command returns nothing. No Xephyr file installed by xorg-server.
Hum, I re-emerge xorg-server and Xephyr is built and installed now. I don't understand why it isn't the first time. I don't know what change in my environment since before. The kdrive use flag was already present. I'd emerge some new packages but I don't see the point. Sabayon builds fine now but I don't now why.

It was fixed by: emerge sabayon xorg-server and then re-emerging gnome. Could someone look into why this dep fails while following the Desktop guide for Gnome?
The problem is that passing --enable-kdrive to xorg-server's configure does not actually enable xephyr. There's a separate --enable-xephyr option which defaults to "auto". This requires kdrive to be enabled, and several libraries to be present. The missing one (for me) was libXv. After emerging this package and then re-emerging xorg-server, Xephyr was compiled and installed correctly.
automagic in xorg-server ebuild ??? (@x11, please check the last comment).
Please test how does it work with 2.30
I think I've run into the same issue, with 2.30. I'm new to Gentoo so still feeling my way around portage. I've used revdep-rebuild, and emerge --update --deep --newuse, but still can't get sabayon emerged to allow gnome to emerge. My emerge --info is below, and I'll attach config.log from /var/tmp/portage/app-admin/sabayon-2.30.0/work because the output told me to. I took a stab and emerged libXv, then remerged xorg-server. I then successfully emerged sabayon and gnome. Thanks derf!

(In reply to comment #13) > automagic in xorg-server ebuild ??? (@x11, please check the last comment). I'll be working on this ASAP on the xorg-server side, but on the gnome side, maybe sabayon shouldn't check for Xephyr at compile time but maybe at run-time. That could also help. Cheers
re-assigning to x11 since the bug is actually on their side.
