Not sure if it specifically requires this package, which would make virtual/snmp a problem. I currently have net-analyzer/net-snmp installed providing virtual/snmp (I assume)... As an aside, apcupsd requires virtual/mta, but then explicitly sets APCUPSD_MAIL=/usr/sbin/ sendmail. My MTA is sendmail, so I'm not sure if this would cause a problem or not... Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
A related note -- php.eclass depends everything that uses it on net-analyzer/net-snmp. Both ucd-snmp and net-snmp provide (and block) virtual/snmp. So the quandry is that one can't have php and apcupsd at the same time. It gets worse: Packages that depend on ucd-snmp: sys-apps/apcupsd net-mail/cyrus-imapd net-mail/cyrus-imap-admin dev-libs/cyrus-imap-dev net-print/hpoj net-dialup/freeradius Packages the depend on net-snmp: *php.eclass app-admin/hpasm app-admin/fetchlog net-analyzer/snort (latest 1.9, 2.0 has snmp commented out) net-analyzer/ifstat net-analyzer/nagios-plugins This means that one system can only have apps from one column or the other?
this is for USV, not printing
I changed it to virtual/snmp. Closing this bug now.
This didn't work. In fact, the ebuild completed successfully, but installed an incomplete package, as the files didn't even compile! This is with virtual/snmp satified by net-analyser/net-snmp
i added a patch from debian, it works now :)
