Description Mr. Bones. (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-04-30 20:11:46 UTC
Please mark snes9x-1.52.ebuild stable.
Comment 1 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-04-30 20:51:06 UTC
I'm afraid this will need latest-possible-emul-32-packages for amd64 to get libglade's 32bit version...

So amd64 devs: Please open a bug to get latest stable, and make it block this bug.

x86 stable
Comment 3 matt 2010-05-14 01:50:42 UTC
tested snes9x-gtk ( not snes9x) with 2 games.

using kernel .31 and sound randomly quit, could be a bug in alsa ? using kernel .32 and no problems with sound.

had to disable cpufreq scaling and set the minimum at 1.8 Ghz, else it would run really slow and choppy, but would consume less than 45% of each core ( i have a dual core)

tried game genie cheat codes and could not get any of them to work. also, cheat codes are not saved, i had to re enter them each time i opened snes9x.

the config files seem to be different for snes9x and snes9x-gtk. i was testing with snes9x-gtk and then tried to test snes9x and the joystick would not work with that.

save states work ok.

good news is that it never crashed :)

tested snes9x-gtk ( not snes9x) with 3 games on ppc

used kernel 2.6.33.3

software rendering and xv worked, opengl was painfully slow, not sure why.
matt@ssbook ~ $ glxinfo | grep render
direct rendering: Yes
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI R200 20060602 AGP 4x PowerPC/Altivec TCL
matt@ssbook ~ $

first time i used xv, it seemed to disconnect from the main window, i could hear the game and do stuff, but the screen was not updated. tried to reproduce and it worked great after that.

tried 1 game genie cheat codes and could not get it to work.

console snes9x was not tested

save states work ok.

never crashed :)
