Yes, this happens cause swig's build/test system tries to find automagically what languages are installed, and runs tests on everything it finds. Some years ago, we dropped specific lang support via USE flags, because the maintainer at that time, thought that it didn't matter. Swig does not need any dependencies to run, and it installs examples of all languages that it supports anyway. I don't know how to fix tests yet. But I don't want to RESTRICT=test either. I hope I don't bother you, or tinderbox, Diego.
Comment 3 Diego Elio Pettenò (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-04-29 09:03:01 UTC
If the testsuite will _always_ fail, then please restrict it as it's going to add just noise.

If the problem is fixable, please try to fix it…
Comment 4 Panagiotis Christopoulos (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-04-29 11:20:22 UTC
I restricted it for the time being.

Diego, thank you for this report. I resolve the bug as WONTFIX as it's not really fixed. I'll wait until a new swig release, to look into the testsuite again. I'm moving the old ebuild to the lisp overlay.
