Description Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2010-04-24 09:50:24 UTC
In some situations I get the following error when mail-notification tries to connect to evolution:

"A fatal error has occurred in the Evolution Mail Notification plugin
The connection to the D-Bus session bus was lost."

I am seeing this one with -r3 because I am using it to test, but I doubt it's caused by patches included in -r3 because I have tried to compile without all of them but gtkhtml one (needed to compile against evo-2.28) with the same problem :-(

The problem seems to occur when:
1. Systems boots
2. Somebody else logs in his Gnome session
3. He logs out
4. I log in in my session and start evolution

If I reboot the system and I am the first logging in, the problem doesn't appear :-/

I don't know where could be the problem (dbus, evolution, mail-notification...)

Thanks a lot for your help

Reproducible: Always

(Assigning to main maintainer but also CCing freedesktop due dbus implication and gnome team as this should be handled as soon as possible due Gnome 2.28 stabilization)
Comment 2 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2010-04-25 17:36:07 UTC
If no other one is able to reproduce, maybe we could go ahead since it could be a configuration error (seems that it depends on what exact user logs in first, but I don't know where is the problem...)
Comment 3 Hans de Graaff gentoo-dev Security 2010-04-25 18:58:07 UTC
I'm afraid I can't be of much help here since I don't use the evolution stuff in mail-notification myself. Agreed on continuing with the stabilization.

this bug looks like clear NEEDINFO and has nothing for freedesktop-bugs@ to do here.
