Description Harold Martin 2003-10-21 10:26:10 UTC
I downloaded some icons in PNG format, and used the "Properties" dialog to
set them on various GNOME menu items. However, none of them are being
displayed in the menu.

The menu still shows the default icons
I tried loging out and rebooting, but the custom icons still don't show up
in the menu.

Oddly enough, they show up just fine in applications:///

What do I have to do to get custom icons working?

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Attempt to set custom icons in the GNOME menu
Actual Results:
No change in menu item's icons.

Expected Results:
Menu items should display new icons

Could you please provide a little more info..

What icons?
Where did you save them?
What version of gnome?
Any errors in tty1?

You should set icons in the menu itsself (rightclick on item). Dunno why
this is exactly, but i don't think we should bother figuring it out at this
time when a move to a better menu system is on the way (both for Gentoo &
GNOME). If you care to find out and fix some patch we would like to know
about it of course.

OK, I can set launcher icons from the menu, but not icons for the menus (it
games) themselves.
Are the icon setting accessible through gconf?
