Have fun… I guess here blockers could be the only solution.

I've just gone and placed that blocker, but it need not be the final solution.

I don't seem to be able to install media-gfx/surf without USE=gtk (bug #316531) and I simply banned =x11-libs/gtk+-1.2* from my systems a couple of years ago, and the bug report interestingly omits telling us what files actually collide, so it's hard to tell now what would need to change, but I was hoping it might be enough to just change the names in /usr/bin.

“the bug report interestingly omits telling us what files actually collide”

Yeah reading the summary is too difficult, is it? “surf binary and surf.1 man pages”

/usr/bin/surf
/usr/share/man/man1/surf.1(.gz|.bz2|.lzma)

May I suggest you stop being so melodramatic if you want some extra information? It really doesn't make you funny.

Thank you. That helps. The blocker is in place and renaming these would cause more confusion than it fixes.
