Have fun… I guess here blockers could be the only solution.
I've just gone and placed that blocker, but it need not be the final solution. I don't seem to be able to install media-gfx/surf without USE=gtk (bug #316531) and I simply banned =x11-libs/gtk+-1.2* from my systems a couple of years ago, and the bug report interestingly omits telling us what files actually collide, so it's hard to tell now what would need to change, but I was hoping it might be enough to just change the names in /usr/bin.
“the bug report interestingly omits telling us what files actually collide” Yeah reading the summary is too difficult, is it? “surf binary and surf.1 man pages” /usr/bin/surf /usr/share/man/man1/surf.1(.gz|.bz2|.lzma) May I suggest you stop being so melodramatic if you want some extra information? It really doesn't make you funny.
(In reply to comment #2) > /usr/bin/surf > /usr/share/man/man1/surf.1(.gz|.bz2|.lzma) Thank you. That helps. The blocker is in place and renaming these would cause more confusion than it fixes.
