Hi,

This ebuild is not mine, it belongs to Tomasz Sterna. He has a few ebuilds at http://smoczy.net/stuff/Gentoo/

Newscache is another program which does similar things to nntpcache, it would be nice to have a Newscache ebuild as well :)

I would be interested in producing an ebuild for Newscache but unfortunately I have no experience in ebuild programming yet. I will look into producing ebuilds.

Both those packages would belong in net-news, altho it could be useful to split this category into 2 parts, net-news/servers and net-news/clients or something similar.

I'm sorry, but this package has some serious problems:

First with version 0.99.22p1 ("Stable") it does not compile at all.
With version 1.1.92 ("Testing") it requires a libsocket++, which, believe it or not does not compile.

So at this time I do not feel that NewsCache is a good candidate for Gentoo.  Sorry.  If the upstream developers manage to resolve these issues reopen this bug.
