Description skaumo 2010-04-12 16:19:24 UTC
I'm using KDE4.4.x on the :0.0 X screen, and E16 on the :0.1 (looks like KDE4.4 is unable to run in parallel on two separate screens).

When I start the KDE screensaver it runs properly on the first screen and with ~80% alpha on the second screen. XScreensaver does not suffer this issue.

Additionally, after a number of times the KDE Screensaver gets called (by inactivity timeouts), it locks up. No way to kill it, and becomes a zombie process, so I have to kill X as well, or restart the whole machine.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.DISPLAY=:0 X :0 2>/dev/null &
 sleep 5
2.DISPLAY=:0.0 startkde --display=:0.0  2>/dev/null &
 sleep 10
3.DISPLAY=:0.1 e16 --display=:0.1 2>/dev/null &

4. Just keep on using the PC with the 2 window managers and have the KDE Screensaver activate after inactivity, for several days.
Actual Results:
the screensaver locks up suddenly when I try to unlock it at some random moment. The mouse cursor seems also almost locked, but some times it moves veeeeeeeeeeery slowly (1-2 pixels per second at most). The unlock window doesn't appear. CPU is NOT at 100% load, though, just as usual

Expected Results:
kde unlock window to let me unlock the screen

Any better luck with 4.5?
Comment 2 Theo Chatzimichos (RETIRED) archtester gentoo-dev Security 2010-12-31 01:53:17 UTC
try with 4.5 please and if it persists report it upstream and paste the upstream bug here so we can track it
