Screen makes blank during boot the new gentoo-sources-2.6.32-gentoo-r7
There was no problem with kernels before this "stable" release. Now it works only with nomodeset parameter.

The same problem with the latest gentoo-sources kernel (sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-2.6.33)
Comment 3 Mike Pagano gentoo-dev 2010-04-08 23:08:31 UTC
This looks the same as https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15030

But they say it's fixed in 2.6.33. Can you test with vanilla-sources-2.6.33.2.

On failure, it might be worth testing the latest git-sources and participating in the already opened upstream bug.
Comment 4 .silent 2010-04-09 06:53:54 UTC
Thank you for response.

The same problem with vanilla-sources-2.6.33.2.
I'll try to test it with latest git-sources at evening (gmt+3), and write a result here.
Comment 5 .silent 2010-04-09 20:42:03 UTC
There is no problem with git-sources-2.6.34_rc3-r8, thank you.
I'll wait for for stable 2.6.34 with this kernel.
Comment 6 Aron Dobson 2010-05-26 07:32:09 UTC
Hi! I had the same problem, when KMS enabled with 2.6.32*. I solved it by compiling the i915 driver into the kernel (i didn't worked as a module).
Comment 7 Aron Dobson 2010-05-26 08:08:15 UTC
AAARrgh! sorry, i had 2 typo's in 2 lines....
So what i wanted to say is, that i had the same problems using 2.6.33*,
and IT wasn't working as a module only...
Comment 8 Mike Pagano gentoo-dev 2010-06-16 23:49:33 UTC
Can someone confirm that this works with 2.6.34, please.
Comment 9 Ira Snyder 2010-07-24 22:01:06 UTC
Using gentoo-sources-2.6.34-r2, I get a blank screen on boot. Building i915 and intel_agp into the kernel fixed the problem. So this is still broken.

I was previously using 2.6.31-gentoo-r6, with both i915 and intel_agp as modules. It worked without issues.
