I am confused by the lib32 USE flag...where is that from. Otherwise can reproduce with Emacs 23, 22 is ok.
htmlfontify will be included with Emacs 23.2: <http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~vcs-imports/emacs/trunk/annotate/head%3A/lisp/htmlfontify.el> I wonder if it's worth the effort to fix it just for Emacs 23.1. Looks like upstream doesn't think so, since there's no newer release than 0.20.
Let's make it block Emacs 23 and then wait for 23.2 to be released.

I haven't ever used htmlfontify myself and I probably just installed it without good reason a long time ago.
