As sys-power/pm-utils are needed for suspend/hibernation sys-apps/devicekit-power should depend on them. Reproducible: Always
This is already fixed in sys-power/upower which is added today... and replaces devicekit-power...
While it is true that upower has replaced devicekit-power, GNOME 2.28 still uses devicekit-power. devicekit-power-014 is proposed for stabilization in bug 314899. Adding pm-utils to its dependencies would ensure proper suspending/hibernation in GNOME 2.28.
gnome is already CCed to fdo-bugs, thanks.

I cannot test it myself since my running Gnome 2.28 system is simply unable to resume :-P Thanks :-)
it works just fine as it is on my laptop.
gnome-session-2.28 calls devicekit-power which in turn calls pm-suspend or pm-hibernate. Even if pm-utils is installed because of HAL, it would be correct for devicekit-power to depend on pm-utils. I am not asking for stabilization of newer pm-utils.
Gnome 2.30 is in portage, using upower, and it's fixed in upower -> closing as fixed
