Bootstrapping fails at the `emerge --oneshot --nodeps file' stage: make[2]: Entering directory `/local/scratch/portage/sys-apps/file-5.04/work/file-5.04' make[2]: Nothing to be done for `all-am'. make[2]: Leaving directory `/local/scratch/portage/sys-apps/file-5.04/work/file-5.04' make[1]: Leaving directory `/local/scratch/portage/sys-apps/file-5.04/work/file-5.04' * '/local/tmp/k/usr/bin/python' is not valid symlink. * Use `eselect python set ${python_interpreter}` to fix this problem. * ERROR: sys-apps/file-5.04 failed: * '/local/tmp/k/usr/bin/python' is not valid symlink This problem has occurred since 2010-03-26 and possibly earlier; I haven't had the time to follow up.
We should add USE=-python to the bootstrapping docs. And drop the "this is for linux only" line such that every arch does it.

Verified, bootstrapping on Linux works for me now, using http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/gentoo-alt/prefix/bootstrap-solaris.xml
