Description Rabbe Fogelholm 2010-04-05 14:35:18 UTC
Platform is SUSE Enterprise 10.2. Bootstrapping fails at the `emerge --oneshot --nodeps file' stage:

make[2]: Entering directory `/local/scratch/portage/sys-apps/file-5.04/work/file-5.04'
make[2]: Nothing to be done for `all-am'.
make[2]: Leaving directory `/local/scratch/portage/sys-apps/file-5.04/work/file-5.04'
make[1]: Leaving directory `/local/scratch/portage/sys-apps/file-5.04/work/file-5.04'
 * '/local/tmp/k/usr/bin/python' is not valid symlink.
 * Use `eselect python set ${python_interpreter}` to fix this problem.
 * ERROR: sys-apps/file-5.04 failed:
 * '/local/tmp/k/usr/bin/python' is not valid symlink

This problem has occurred since 2010-03-26 and possibly earlier; I haven't had the time to follow up.

We should add USE=-python to the bootstrapping docs. And drop the "this is for linux only" line such that every arch does it.

fixed in docs.
Comment 3 Rabbe Fogelholm 2010-04-06 06:29:08 UTC
Verified, bootstrapping on Linux works for me now, using http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/gentoo-alt/prefix/bootstrap-solaris.xml
