Description Raimar Sandner 2010-04-03 12:04:45 UTC
Parts of the screen are not redrawn correctly (see screenshot), for example when scrolling in firefox or changing tabs in applications. This happens only with compiz (0.8.6), not with kwin. The graphics chip is an intel 945GM.

The symptoms seem to be the same as in this fedora bug: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=573366

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:

I forgot to mention: workaround is to downgrade to mesa-7.7.1

(II) Module intel: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
	compiled for 1.7.6, module version = 2.11.

Try rolling back the intel driver to 2.10 and see if it fixes it. This is exactly what I saw with 2.11

x11-drivers/xf86-video-intel
     Available versions: 2.8.1 2.9.1 (~)2.10.0-r1 (~)2.10.903[1]

2.10.903 was the last RC before 2.11 Something broke, not sure what or why.
Comment 5 Raimar Sandner 2010-04-04 23:18:48 UTC
Downgrading the intel driver to 2.10 does not solve the problem for me. It might be not as severe as with 2.11, but that is hard to tell and I could be wrong about it.

So the only way for me to avoid the bug is to stick with mesa-7.7.1.

Alright, could you try one of the latest sys-kernel/git-sources kernels (2.6.34_rc3-r2 when writing this) and see if the corruptions are still around?

Thanks

$ uname -r
2.6.34-rc3-git2

I still see the same corruptions.

same issue here, screen don't redraw even switch from tabs in gnome-terminal.
I am on mesa-7.8 xorg-server-1.8.0 xf86-video-intel-2.11.0, with git-kernel 2.6.34-rc3, kms enabled, all packages are ~x86_64, and all packages uptodate in 2days.

also tested with a clean compiz config, that will not fix.

Alright then. Please file a bug upstream [1] and paste the URL here, I'll CC myself on the upstream bug to track it.

Thanks

And closing with the proper resolution. Let's track the bug upstream directly.
