/etc/init.d/xfs start doesnt work xfree-4.2.0-r9 I needed to edit /etc/init.d/xfs added in section start-stop-daemon --start: -port -1 additionally had to modify /etc/X11/fs/config I commented this there: port = -1
the "port = -1" in /etc/X11/fs/config is not correct. to avoid tcp listening you should write "no-listen = tcp". "port = -1" has to be removed asap, it lets xfs segfaults using compiler optimization (march=i686,mcpu=i686) and writes out error messages containing non ASCII character (and that is not a good sign...) without mcpu/march. stefano barbato barbato*inquare.com
This should be fixed in -r11 .. emerge rsynce and look at the stuff in /usr/portage/x11-base/xfree/files/4.2.0-r11/. If anything amiss ... reopen.
