Description Mariusz Pękala 2010-03-26 17:30:22 UTC
The package installs fine, but warns:

* This package installs one or more file names containing characters that
* do not match your current locale settings. The current setting for
* filesystem encoding is 'UTF-8'.
usr/share/games/glest/data/lang/espalng
usr/share/games/glest/scenarios/storming/storming_espalng
usr/share/games/glest/tutorials/advanced_tutorial/advanced_tutorial_espalng
usr/share/games/glest/tutorials/basic_tutorial/basic_tutorial_espalng

There existed a barely related bug 97026.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. have a filesystem locale with UTF8 encoding
2. emerge glest

Actual Results:
Files with invalid names are installed (for example ls *.lng will not find these files)

Expected Results:
The file names should be corrected - preferrably by upstream, eventually by ebuild.
I have tested by manually renaming (a symlink was enough) the file in ".../data/lang/" to more correct form (any form with visible dot seems to be accepted) that the originally installed file is not visible in the game (languages selection in the options) an the "fixed" file is visible and seems to work correctly. (I do not know the Spanish language, so I can just say it does not crash the game :)

Comment 1 Marco Salm 2010-03-31 19:31:19 UTC
I tried to change the files with the help of convmv, but unfortunately, this procedure changes the menu entry "español" to something weird like "espÃ?ol".
Apparently, glest uses the filename as menu entry and can not handle utf8 filenames.

That's why I changed the ebuild for my personal needs. I use
the following command in src_prepare:
find "${WORKDIR}" -type f -name "*espa?ol*"\
    -exec sh -c 'mv -f {} $(echo {} | tr "\361" "no")' \; \
    || die "find failed"
But I doubt that this is a good idea. :)

glest is masked for removal, cause games-strategy/megaglest will supersede it
