Description Martin Zahn 2003-10-14 06:26:42 UTC
When I try to install gentoo linux on the (older) 386 machine I get the
error: mount: mounting /newroot/dev/cdroms/* on /newroot/mnt/cdrom filed:
No such file or directory
----- CD not found
......
......
......
#

I finally get e shell prompt.

On this machine, RedHat 8 and RedHat 9 was successfully installed,
no problemd with the CD-Rom.

Whats wrong with the installation / hardware ?

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Place 1. gentoo CD in machine
2. Try to boot
3.

Can you get me some hardware info for this box?
Comment 2 Martin Zahn 2003-11-13 00:27:11 UTC
Here are some Hardware Infos, actually RedHat 9 is installed ... without any
problems, therefore I think gentoo should working as well.
Redhat was also installed from CD, and the PC is not so old.

We think the "old" hardware should be good enough for gentoo.

It happens when you have two drives and and the second drive has a cd in it. Initrd and Busybox get confused about that. I'll close this bug now. Drop a comment please if this is still an issue.
