symptoms are exactly as described here : http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/18064?string=lat in a nutshell : "If you go to a website with gzip compression, elinks will not display the site." Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. install zlib-1.2.4 2. go to lkml.org 3. try to view any mailing list message Actual Results: elinks will display a blank page Expected Results: elinks should show the page i'll provide what's needed.
I can reproduce this. The Arch Linux bug says "0.12pre5" is working... perhaps a version of that to ~arch?
Possible related bugs, http://bugzilla.elinks.cz/show_bug.cgi?id=1068 : "Fixed already in 0.12.GIT and 0.13.GIT. Won't be fixed fo 0.11.GIT, because 0.11 uses different code for decompression. It requires too much work." http://bugzilla.elinks.cz/show_bug.cgi?id=1017 : "To work around this bug, ELinks 0.12pre5 disables protocol.http.compression by default. The bug itself has not been fixed."
Added 0.12pre5 to CVS. Thanks for reporting the problem and for providing the links to the elinks bugs :)
