Description Ricky Marshall 2010-03-21 02:02:19 UTC
The current version of network is dev-haskell/network-2.2.1.7. The cabal-install emerge fails because it determines that network-2.2.1.4 is missing.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge -u cabal-install
2.
3.

Actual Results:
setup: The following installed packages are broken because other packages they
depend on are missing. These broken packages must be rebuilt before they can
be used.
package HTTP-4000.0.8 is broken due to missing package network-2.2.1.4

*cough* app-portage/haskell-updater *cough*

Not a cabal-install problem, and inconsistent dependency problem (the error is with dev-haskell/http being build against dev-haskell/network-2.2.1.4 whereas the user has since upgraded to dev-haskell/network-2.2.1.7).
Comment 3 Lennart Kolmodin (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-03-23 23:45:41 UTC
Right, it seems like your environment is broken.
As Ivan says, when you upgrade package A, package B that depended on A will be broken and you'll need to recompile it.

Unfortunately there is no way for us to track this in Gentoo, you'll have to run our special tool haskell-updater. If you want to, you can use 'ghc-pkg check' manually to see what's wrong.
