Description rojaro 2003-10-13 07:59:02 UTC
Hi folks :)

Please find attached multisort-1.1.ebuild

multisort takes any number of httpd logfiles in the Apache Common or Combined Log Format and merges them together, ordered by the date string. This is extremely useful for servers that use round-robin DNS for a website hosted on multiple servers; it allows you to merge the logfiles to do analysis.

I propose net-www/multisort as location.
I am not aware of any dependencies for this Tool.

The program hasnt been updated since 1999. I dont think this program will be added. Sorry.
Comment 4 rojaro 2004-04-28 05:13:19 UTC
Right, it hasnt been updated, but there isnt any need to update it anyway. I am using it on several Serverfarms, it is totally stable and i havent found any bugs so far. So why update anything that works perfectly????

It is one of the few programs that are really stable.

it seems that even multisort's author advise to use mergelog.this one is avalaible with portage.
Comment 6 rojaro 2004-09-11 14:14:40 UTC
Jean, right, he does so because mergelog has more features, but its much slower than multisort, while multisort just does what it is supposed to do. Nothing more, nothing less. Also consider that bash isnt obsolete just because it has less features than tcsh.
