Description Andy Ashley 2010-03-14 16:28:12 UTC
Hi,

We are upgrading our UK mirror server to Gigabit Ethernet.

A side effect is that we need to change it's IP as the existing one is routed behind a 100meg firewall.

Present IP: 81.91.243.120
New IP: 81.91.242.10

The old server is still functioning and I have cloned the server and it is now listening on the new IP, however it is unable to contact the master rsync server for updates due to your ACL's:

Can you please:

1. Add the new IP to the ACL so it can start syncing successfully
(note: I need to re-enable the cron job for it to start doing this)

2. Adjust the DNS to use the new IP.

3. Please (pretty please) update the mirrors page to reflect our new company name, it still says "Qube Networks" but it the name is now
"Qube Managed Services". I did request this before..

Thanks.
Regards,

Andy Ashley.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
As detailed above, some changes need to be made.

Your new IP is in the ACL. Let me know when you are syncing and I'll remove the old IP and change the DNS entries.

Hi,

OK, server is synced and syncing as per usual schedule.
I have changed the DNS for mirror.qubenet.net to point at the new IP.

Thanks.
Andy.

Added to monitoring system now.

Thanks,

Any chance we could get the company name updated on http://www.gentoo.org/main/en/mirrors2.xml ?

Thanks.

I just did that for you now, should be live in an hour.

We still need to update rsync1.uk.gentoo.org, rsync.uk.gentoo.org, and rsync.europe.gentoo.org still. If you are going to kill the old machine soon, we can update the DNS now, but would prefer to keep it in the testing system for at least a few days yet.

The MOTD on the new machine still has the old IP address.

Thanks again for your contributions! :)

- Great, thanks a lot.

- I can keep the old box online for a while, there are other projects who need to migrate off it too so no great rush but would like to get it finished at some stage.

- Have updated this now, thanks for spotting that.

- No problem!

DNS updated. The longest TTL is 24 hours but only for rsync1.uk and users should not be using the direct name. Feel free to bring down the old service at your discretion. Thanks.

OK, I have shut down the old server.
You can remove the old IP (81.91.243.120) from your ACL's etc.

Thanks!
