I used kopete for quite some time. "Very suddenly" Kopete 0.7.2  started
crashing when I start typing text into the IM dialog. I am now running 0.7.3 but
the same thing is happening.

Quite possibly a bug with gcc 3.3 compilation.  I recommend you bug report
this to the kopete folks and see if they know more.

I'll wait on reporting to the kopete folks. I recently downgraded my system
from ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" to ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="" so I probably have all
kinds of library/dependancy issues.
