I have the following access violation while emerging gdb:

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge gdb
2.wait....
3.read the output in the console :)

Actual Results:  
access violation

Expected Results:  
succcessfull emerge of gdb ?

it's related to using userpriv and/or usersandbox

i just made gdb 6.0 stable, plz try if that fixes your issues
