linphone is supplied with bad desktop file.
the icon in the desktop file has extension and its in subdirectory

by freedesktop specs "Icon" in a desktop file should be either absolute path to file or iconname without any extensions (and probably subdirectories). moreover its recommended to be installed into "hicolor" theme directory.

i think you guys(gentoo devs) should fix ebuild to fix desktop file and probably Makefile to install linphone icon properly. I know its upstream problem but anyway I beleive you will fix it faster.

the desktop file now looks good but the icon is still in the wrong place

Thanks for reopening. Should be fixed in 3.2.1-r2.
