Description Paul de Vrieze (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-10-09 12:39:28 UTC
eclipse-sdk (the from-source version) installs .eclipsproduct in / instead of in /usr/lib/eclipse This makes that the update feature does not work until you install that file in the /usr/lib/eclipse dir.

I noticed this the other day. I'm going to look into why the splash screen always says "finishing install" even after the first time you've run eclipse. I'll fix this too and post an update.

Eclipse 2.1.2 is out now so I'll update it for that too.

Tom
Comment 2 Paul de Vrieze (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-11-12 13:04:30 UTC
The .eclipseproduct issue is fixed in 2.1.2, just copying and changing the filename works. However the splash screen issue is still there. (And updating doesn't work anyway, even when the permissions are there.

The splash is a problem upstream as well, so we'll see what they come up with (#26174). The update manager issue is also tracked (#21380). I'm dropping this bug, as its issues are already tracked separately elsewhere. Please submit your findings/suggestions/solutions to the abovementioned issues instead.
Comment 4 Paul de Vrieze (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-12-04 01:44:06 UTC
We now have an UPSTREAM resolve method
Comment 5 Paul de Vrieze (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-12-04 01:44:29 UTC
This is an upstream issue
Comment 6 Karl Trygve Kalleberg (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-12-05 08:16:58 UTC
But this bug isn't resolved upstream
Comment 7 Karl Trygve Kalleberg (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-12-05 08:18:04 UTC
However, it is superceded by two other bugs locally, which makes it invalid.
