Description Robert Cabrera 2010-02-26 23:02:12 UTC
Update world this afternoon brought in dev-lang/swi-prolog-5.9.9 which compiled and installed fine. Portage complained about "preserved-libs". Emerge @preserved-rebuild brought in dev-libs/ppl-0.10.2 to rebuild which failed to compile. Downgrade to dev-lang/swi-prolog-5.9.7 then dev-libs/ppl-0.10.2 builds fine

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge -uavND world
2.update brings in dev-lang/swi-prolog-5.9.9 which compiles and installs fine
3.emerge @preserved-rebuild
4.dev-libs/ppl-0.10.2 fails to compile
Actual Results:
dev-libs/ppl-0.10.2 fails to compile after upgrading to dev-lang/swi-prolog-5.9.9

Expected Results:
dev-libs/ppl-0.10.2 should have compiled after upgrading to dev-lang/swi-prolog-5.9.9

After downgrading back to dev-lang/swi-prolog-5.9.7 dev-libs/ppl-0.10.2 compiles and installs with no errors.

/bin/sh: plld: command not found
That seems to be provided by dev-lang/swi-prolog ...
Comment 2 Ryan Hill (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-02-27 05:31:23 UTC
looks like swi-prolog-5.9.9 changed the names of the binaries.

and after a bit of digging[i] it seems like the 0.10 series of ppl doesn't even support >=swi-prolog-5.8, so I've just dropped prolog support.

Thanks for the updated ebuild and this info on ppl. I only was building with prolog support because it previously had been a requirement.

Thanks again for your great work and effort in making Gentoo the best OS around!
