As of this writing, stable MySQL is 5.0.70-r1 on HPPA and 5.0.84-r1 on alpha/amd64/x86. On HPPA we can't currently get >=mysql-5.0.83 since it needs GCC-4.3 (see bug #290570), and >=gcc-4.3 is marked -hppa (gcc-4.3 can't build glibc, bug #272645, etc...) I'm using dev-db/mysql-5.0.76-r1 on hppa with success since 2009-09-01, other archs skipped it but it would be good to stable it on HPPA to advance from the older 5.0.70. There aren't currently any other ebuild between 5.0.76 and 5.0.83.
Does mysql-bugs@ agree?
+1 on it for stabilization in the meantime.
This bug isn't needed anymore. See my comment 15 on bug 303747 for stabilizing the same version as other arches.
