please emerge -u gnome-utils && emerge gnome.
gucharmap is provided in gnome-utils versions < late 2.3 series.

nope, this isnt a portage or RDEPEND problem, it's the correct behaviour.

emerge -u gnome-utils && emerge -p gnome

doesn't look like correct behavior...did you mean emerge -C gnome-utils?

I have already tried that.
Comment 3 Mike Gardiner (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-10-07 20:58:09 UTC
what version of gnome-utils do you have installed now ?
Comment 4 Bob Waskosky 2003-10-07 21:06:12 UTC
It's working fine now...I had 2 versions and had to unmerge the old 1.4.x
version also.
Comment 5 Mike Gardiner (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-10-07 21:26:09 UTC
ahh, having a 1.4 version around would be it. but they're not slotted, so
i'm not sure how you had multiple versions around. anyway, it's fixed now
you say.
Comment 6 foser (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-10-12 10:24:05 UTC
then why dont you close it obz ?

as said it isnt slotted, so this shouldn't have happened :) it's a paradox

closing invalid cause it doesn't seem to be reproducable.
