What "Sound Preferences" are you talking about ? Does pavucontrol help ?
(In reply to comment #2) > What "Sound Preferences" are you talking about ? > Does pavucontrol help ? > No pavucontrol did not help i have installed (eselect-esd, gst-plugins-pulse, padevchooser, paprefs, pavucontrol, pavumeter) but this did not change the situation is it possible that snd_pcm_oss and snd_seq_oss are blocking the rest of the channels??? i have tried to rmmod these modules but without luck. maybe i have to change my kernel config???

What useflags are you using for pulseaudio ? What's your hal/udev version ? (note, that, for the moment, this looks like a support question, that's for the forum, not into bugzilla)

I'm talking about i.e. 'emerge -1pv pulseaudio'. I don't want to be guessing what you've put into your packege.use.

Many people have a surround card, but have speakers for just two channels, so PulseAudio cannot really default to a surround setup. To enable all the channels, edit /etc/pulse/daemon.conf: uncomment the default-sample-channels line (i.e. remove the semicolon from the beginning of the line) and set the value to 6 if you have a 5.1 setup, or 8 if you have 7.1 setup etc.

I close the bugreport. Thanks for your help.
