When I try to merge the current stable busybox (1.14.2) I get the following error: CC miscutils/flash_eraseall.o miscutils/flash_eraseall.c:15:28: error: mtd/jffs2-user.h: No such file or directory miscutils/flash_eraseall.c: In function 'flash_eraseall_main': miscutils/flash_eraseall.c:52: error: storage size of 'cleanmarker' isn't known miscutils/flash_eraseall.c:83: warning: implicit declaration of function 'cpu_to_je16' miscutils/flash_eraseall.c:83: error: 'JFFS2_MAGIC_BITMASK' undeclared (first use in this function) miscutils/flash_eraseall.c:83: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once miscutils/flash_eraseall.c:83: error: for each function it appears in.) miscutils/flash_eraseall.c:84: error: 'JFFS2_NODETYPE_CLEANMARKER' undeclared (first use in this function) miscutils/flash_eraseall.c:86: warning: implicit declaration of function 'cpu_to_je32' miscutils/flash_eraseall.c:86: error: invalid application of 'sizeof' to incomplete type 'struct jffs2_unknown_node' miscutils/flash_eraseall.c:121: error: invalid application of 'sizeof' to incomplete type 'struct jffs2_unknown_node' miscutils/flash_eraseall.c:122: warning: overflow in implicit constant conversion miscutils/flash_eraseall.c:52: warning: unused variable 'cleanmarker' make[1]: *** [miscutils/flash_eraseall.o] Error 1 make: *** [miscutils] Error 2 This error does not occur with the current unstable version (1.15.3). Created attachment 220341 [details] build-log for busybox 1.14,2 for this run I used MAKEOPTS="-j1"
Im getting the same error on both amd64 and x86. I believe it has to do with upgrading linux-headers from 2.6.30 to 2.6.32, as a google on the missing header indicates that it was part of the kernel once upon a time.
This is >=linux-headers-2.6.32 and <busybox-1.6.0 compatibility problem. mtd/jffs2-user.h is moved to linux/jffs2.h There may be three options: 1. mask >=linux-headers-2.6.32 and (probably) kernel 2.6.32 too 2. wait until busybox-1.6.0 gets into portage 3. use patch for compatibility I'll try make patch for 3th option.
(In reply to comment #3) Uhh, sorry for previous post, I didn't tested all variants. To solve this problem, just unmask and install 1.15.3, this is correct version for 2.6.32.
OK, I see the problem (current unstable linux-headers don't mix with current stabele busybox). What about making busybox-1.14.2 depend on linux-headers<2.6.32 just to state this dependency. If I understand it correctly, dependencies on things in the 'system' set are not listed. But here it would be nice, since a specific version is required.
(In reply to comment #3) > 3. use patch for compatibility > > I'll try make patch for 3th option. You don't need to. The upstream is aware of this problem [1] and already has a patch [2] for this problem available too. I tried it and it fixes the build problem.
