Created attachment 220147 [details] kernel .config Just in case I'd be useful from something :)

Well, there are a few problems here. The very first is that 1.2.3 was released on 2009-10-05. The other - you should migrate your kernel to pure libata setup. Then again, scan should probably work anyway.

(In reply to comment #4) > 1.2.3 is now in Portage. Thanks, will try... Wrt the libata suggestion - well, that made the system unbootable for me :)
Well, no change w/ app-cdr/cdrdao-1.2.3. Wrt libata-only kernels, well - I removed all the other HDDs to be able to boot - and it works. $ cdrdao scanbus Cdrdao version 1.2.3 - (C) Andreas Mueller <andreas@daneb.de> /dev/sr0 : HL-DT-ST, DVDRAM GSA-4167B, DL13 So... given the state of upstream, I guess I'll have to mess with my crazy local multiboot setup and hope to get other installed OSes working with this libata stuff and drive order. FWIW, there's been a similar bug open with Debian since June 2006 without any solution. http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=370605
What do you mean by "I removed all the other HDDs to be able to boot" ? A few corrections in /etc/fstab and perhaps a change in root argument for grub may be needed, but that should be all (in most of the cases, that is).
(In reply to comment #7) > What do you mean by "I removed all the other HDDs to be able to boot" ? To make long story short, the BIOS on this MB plain sucks... :P The problem is not with Linux but with Windows. Anyway, that's not really much pertinent here.
Feel free to close this as 'UPSTREAM' if you got it worked around for now and push your issue to upstream to get a real fix, http://sourceforge.net/projects/cdrdao/develop (Tracker -> Bugs) (Because I'm not going to present this to upstream based on this info, sorry, and upstream isn't likely looking at our bugzilla.)
I'll stick the link to URL after I've reported it upstream. Not really optimistic about getting it fixed anyway. Thanks. :)
