Description Ronald 2010-02-17 20:57:35 UTC
I have two forum examples:

http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-814853-highlight-emerge+dbus.html
http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-6176007.html#6176007

and my own experience.

The problem is, is that whenever you emerge dbus under some circumstances (don't know which) then everything that tries to use dbus fails to work for some reason.

Re-emerging dbus fixes the issue altough revdep-rebuild doesn't pick this up.

I had this when I build my Gentoo system inside a chroot and booted it for the first time. I don't know for sure about the people on the forum, but I think they had that same situation too (at least one was building).

Especially for people who are beginners in using Gentoo, this is quite a showstopper. Someone who installs gentoo thinks he/she miserably failed because the breakage is massive (blueman, nm-applet, shares-admin and probably many others as well).

Please gather all necessary information right here (don't point to external resources, even if it's our own forums) and reopen this bug report when it is at the very least clear what the single problem is that we should fix.
