Cpudyn is a daemon that helps controlling laptops power consumption. Features: - control processor speed through cpufreq (like cpufreqd, but it's far more simple to configure) - control harddisk standby (natively, without using hdparm) I've made an init script (mainly a mix between gentoo init script for cpufreqd and debian init script for cpudyn). Configuration is done in an /etc/conf.d file that comes from the debian package. Note that I have mirrored the sources because tarball has no version on the author's page. It should probably be copied to the dev.gentoo.org distfiles-local, and SRC_URI should be modified accordingly. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
Created attachment 18901 [details] cpudyn-0.4.5.ebuild
Created attachment 18903 [details] files/cpudyn.init
I've asked the author to version his tarballs to make life easier for everybody. Remind me about this bug in a week or so, or when the tarballs are versioned, whichever comes first.
thanks it's in CVS now. I revised the init script to check for some more error conditions and refuse to start.
Thanks a lot for your additions and the quick resolution.
