After upgrading to app-text/ghostscript-gpl-8.71, I was no longer able to print with cups(1.4.2-r1) to my Canon Pixma IP4000 printer. The cups web interface would show the printer status as "stopped /usr/libexec/cups/filter/pstoraster failed" without producing any output for a normal print job. However when printing a test page it would produce a heavily inked black page. Confirmed by another user on Gentoo forums http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-6174674.html#6174674

Same problem with my Epson Stylus Photo R340.
Same here with my Epson DX8450. Downgrade to 8.70-r1 helps.
Same here with Canon iX4000. If I choose RGB color model i get solid black pages, if I use CMYK color model (don't know which is recommended) I get: D [23/Feb/2010:23:11:01 +0100] [Job 506] Wrote 1 pages...
