Having reviewed the funding request, I will address the Foundation's responsibility for due diligence for obtaining good prices for the equipment proposed for purchase.

Regarding the server barebones (Supermicro System-5015A-PHF BBNS 1U Atom D510), I have found several vendors offering this product. The choice of vendor Provantage does in fact provide us with the lowest price. Please note that this is a special order situation and will be shipped direct from the manufacturer.
Bottom Line Telecom $355.02
Cybermax Business Solutions $393.18
CompSource.com $340.00
Provantage $333.12

Regarding the HDDs we find prices ranging from $96.47 (TechnodealsUSA) to $62.33 (Marketpc). The Newegg price of $64.99 is near the lower end and given that the desire is to purchase HDDs, RAM, and SATA cables from this vendor, we should save some money in shipping.

Regarding the RAM (G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300)), I have found prices ranging from $98.95 (ComputerCity.com) to $78.99 (techezllc.com). The Newegg price is competitive at $82.99. Again, the reputation of Newegg is solid and the bundled shipping will save us money.

The SATA cables are a small cost, and the HDD brackets are difficult to find alternative vendors offering said product.

Based on this analysis, I feel that the board has satisfied our responsibility for due diligence and should therefore proceed with the acquisition of this hardware.

This funding request has been approved in the Foundation meeting held on 20100221. We will be ordering the items very soon. Thank you.

Everything has been ordered and should be making its way to the OSUOSL.

My credit card weeps! ;)
Comment 10 Joshua Jackson (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-03-05 22:32:00 UTC
Newegg's cleared the hurdle with credit card address being different. Shipping today.

Nextwarehouse is still in order fulfillment, provantage is waiting for a firm shipdate from the warehouse.

nextwarehouse is having a bit of a backlog in their warehouse, they're running 2-3 days behind on shipping stuff out. So hopefully by friday, if not by tuesday =/
Comment 14 Joshua Jackson (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-03-12 20:58:00 UTC
provantage equipment won't be to the warehouse until the 24th. It'll be shipped out after that.
Comment 15 Joshua Jackson (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-03-18 23:39:07 UTC

Everything should be at OSUOSL labs now, and I've reimbursed myself for the cost of the equipment.

Please let me know if there's any issues.
