Description C W Rose 2010-02-15 11:31:07 UTC
Conky 1.6.1 can't read the /sys/class/hwmon temperature
files in kernel 2.6.32; it seems that the directory
layout has changed since 2.6.30. Conky 1.7 may work,
I haven't tested it, and conky 1.8 does work.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Use an hwmon entry in ~/.conkyrc
2. Conky fails to start.
3.

Actual Results:
No conky display on the desktop.

Expected Results:
A conky display on the desktop.

Probably best just to drop the mask for conky 1.8,
but it will need checking on a 2.6.30 kernel first.

conky-1.7.2-r2 is about to become the next stable version (bug #304761). Try this one. If it does not work report here. Honestly I don't care much about 1.6.1 as it will be removed shortly after stabilizing of 1.7.2-r2 is done. I guess upstream also wont support such an old version. Probably 1.7.2 should have been stabled earlier. Also I don't think I will mark the 1.8.0 release candidate stable which is not masked by the way it just has no stable keywords.

conky-1.7.2-r2 is now stable. I am closing this bug as wontfix. If you experience the same problems with the newer version please reopen the bug and change the summary accordingly.
