Description Ray Song 2010-02-12 07:28:40 UTC
net-wireless/broadcom-sta-5.10.91.9.3-r2: cannot be loaded

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. I do not know why ...
2.
3.

Actual Results:
$ sudo modprobe wl
FATAL: Error inserting wl (/lib/modules/2.6.32-gentoo-r5/net/wireless/wl.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)

the wireless network does not work

Expected Results:
wl should have be loaded

I can not load the wl module which causes the wireless network unusable (wired network is ok).
The driver I use is net-wireless/broadcom-sta-5.10.91.9.3-r2 and it should support Dell 1520 (the wireless network card in my laptop) because it ran well a few days ago.

You can see something similar on http://bugs.gentoo.org/276543.

Why would that be a bug in Bugzilla?
Comment 3 Thomas Sachau gentoo-dev 2010-03-12 13:51:32 UTC
Same questions to you: Did you install a previous version from some overlay, which installed the module into misc?

Can you reproduce it with new, clean kernel sources (both fresh /usr/src/linux and /lib/modules/$kernel_version?
