While attempting to merge glibc-2.10.1-r1, a segmentation fault is encountered. Full logs will be attached to the bug. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge glibc (or 'emerge -u world') Actual Results: gcc segfaults during compile of glibc; package cannot be merged Expected Results: clean compilation, upgrade of glibc

Should I open a new bug, and/or reassign this current one?
You can use something like "emerge --resume --skipfirst" or "--keep-going" option of portage to continue your world update for now, assigning the bug to maintainers
You are still using gcc-4.1.2. Please use gcc-config and select the current stable version which is 4.3.4 and try again.
Thanks for the feedback, guys. :) After changing the compiler profile to GCC 4.3.4, I attempted to emerge glibc again, and encountered the same problem. # gcc-config -l [1] x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-4.1.2 [2] x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-4.3.4 *
try with FEATURES=-sandbox
and try with sandbox-2.3
