Description John (EBo) David 2010-02-01 22:08:37 UTC
The sys-kernel/glendix-sources kernel patches have been added to the Sunrise overlay and can be found at http://overlays.gentoo.org/proj/sunrise/browser/sunrise/sys-kernel/glendix-sources

Glendix is a port of Plan 9 operating system ideas into Linux.

glendix-sources is based on gentoo-sources to take advantage of upstream security and bug fixes.

All of the ebuilds have non-fetchable distfiles. Although the SRC_URI for glendix sources in 2.6.{29,31} ebuilds can be easily fixed (by removing 'www.'), the specific version of genpatches is not available anymore and I don't really want myself to bump it. Could you clean up the ebuilds? Otherwise, I will have to mask them for removal in 30 days.

Sorry, this is the first I head about the problems with glendix.

It appears that I need to add the www. not remove it, but regardless of that small detail it is broken. Does sunrise have a preferred place to upload the patch sets? Otherwise I will have to poke glendix...

Fundamentally the problem with glendix-2.6.32 comes from the fact that I based these off of gentoo-sources and did not repackage the entire patch set but relied on gentoo-sources. gentoo-sources-2.6.32.4 has since been removed, and I had not uploaded my gentoo-sources-2.6.32.6 version. I need to now raise the question if I should still base glendix off of gentoo-sources (which includes a bunch of useful updates) or something else. I'll post this to the glendix people and see where they want to go with it.

Thanks for letting me know that there is a problem. I'll start sorting it out.

I've already fixed the 'www.'-problem. And I think that you could just bump the genpatches version to match current gentoo-sources and check whether the kernel builds and works fine then.
Comment 4 John (EBo) David 2010-07-08 17:00:43 UTC
Should be fixed as soon as sys-kernel/glendix-sources-2.6.32-r{1,2} are pulled into Sunrise, so I'm marking as fixed. If there are any problems please reopen.

Any ebuild request should stay open, until the ebuild has been added to main tree.

Since I have moved onto other things and have no intention to continue with Pln9/Glendix I am closing this bug.
