On http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/hardened/hardenedfaq.xml, the sentence: "Another way of accomplishing this, it to emerge =sys-devel/gdb-6.3-r5, which contains a special patch that makes it able to debug executeables linked with -pie.", is no longer valid as gdb-6.3-r5 isn't in the portage tree.
FAQ and Intro haven't been updated in 3-4 years. The same is true of nearly every doc listed on the Hardened Gentoo page. There hasn't been a commit to hardened-sources in nine months. I find myself wondering what the true status of Hardened Gentoo is. Is it barely maintained, or are cycles this long really the intent? Devs, can you please answer explicitly? I do apologize if you feel there have been recent updates: I may just be looking in the wrong places.

Soon as we feel hardened-sources is stable enough and good enough we will make a bump in the tree. Yes the faq are way out of date, the herd is very understaffed and finding those with the skills needed to help maintain hardened in gentoo is rather slim picking. If you would like to contibute, please feel free to post patches, we will review them in a timely manner and work to get the info brought back up to date with you the users contributing.
Created attachment 225407 [details, diff] Proposed patch with updated version info. I have wrote a patch to the xml file of the documentation which should solve this issue. I hope it is good enough for inclusion. As a side note. Discussions on the state of the hardened project should be moved to another bug/place. Anyway on the side related to documentation, I can say from my own experience that updating the documentation is a very time consuming task as it requires looking for new sources, reading and understanding them and finally writting the new document and on hardened is not as easy as it is for other things.
Just for the record, this is being worked and hopefully the new FAQ will be out in the wild after the next meeting. If you want to give comments on it you can find it in http://git.overlays.gentoo.org/gitweb/?p=proj/hardened-docs.git;a=summary
Took sometime but finally a new faq is up, keep tuned for more changes :D
commited to cvs new revision: 1.25; previous revision: 1.24
