Description dougztr 2010-01-25 16:08:17 UTC
Hello!

This is the first ebuild that I have submitted to Gentoo. I use this program on my Gentoo Netwinder machine and thought that others might enjoy it as well.

Twin is a text-mode window environment with built-in window manager, linux console emulator, and remote display capabilities. Very useful for systems which lack X. Something like a graphical version of GNU Screen. Extremely light-weight. Perfect for slow systems with limited RAM. There are also some extra plugins available on sourceforge such as an xmms plugin and some applets.

I suggest app-misc just like screen. It doesn't really depend on much except for sys-libs/gpm but can be compiled with additional features. I have given it USE flags as follows: unicode oldgtk X xml and ncurses. I have chosen "oldgtk" because it depends on gtk+-1.2* which most people probably wouldn't want to install anymore just for this app which is really designed for console use to begin with.

I have tested this on armv4l-softfloat-linux-gnu, x86_64-pc-linux-gnu, and i586-pc-linux-gnu. It even seems to function through a ssh connection (although the fonts are goofed up). Anyways, I think this is a pretty cool app if you're stuck in console mode for some reason.

Cheers!
- Doug

I suggest you to take a look at Sunrise project and put your ebuild into sunrise overlay. Please take a look at: http://overlays.gentoo.org/proj/sunrise/

Perfected ebuild

Modified according to instructions from binki at #gentoo-sunrise
This ebuild is ready for submission to gentoo-sunrise, and I will work on that in the upcoming weeks. Tested the new ebuild locally on all three supported arches.
