Description walt 2002-05-25 09:05:54 UTC
/usr/include/g++-v3/bits/basic_file.h:185: conflicts with previous declaration
   `int __basic_file<_CharT>::streamsize'

Looks like more trouble with c++, maybe?

I haevn't been testing gcc3 myself. But, this quote from the kde 3.0.1
announcement (http://www.kde.org/announcements/announce-3.0.1.html) might be of
interest:
With respect to the most popular KDE compiler, gcc/egcs, please note that some
components of KDE will not compile properly with gcc versions earlier than
gcc-2.95, such as egcs-1.1.2 or gcc-2.7.2, or with unpatched versions of gcc
3.0.x. However, KDE should compile properly with gcc 3.1, provided that neither
debugging support nor strict syntax checking is enabled.

I had this problem as well. Went searching on deja for some help and found this
link:
http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&threadm=wFNG8.23164%24cT2.2335936%40news-nb00s0.nbnet.nb.ca&rnum=2&prev=/groups%3Fhl%3Den%26lr%3D%26q%3Dbasic_file.h%2Bgcc

I removed all gcc files and remerged it. Now arts compiles fine.

Walt, I think you should check the link Kevin posted here. I noticed you've
posted a few other gcc3.1 related bugs which I cannot reproduce with my gcc3.1
config.
