Comment 1 Caleb Tennis (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-10-02 12:20:35 UTC
This may be an artifact of autoconf-2.57a. I would recommend a downgrade
and seeing if that fixes the problem.
Comment 2 Caleb Shay 2003-10-02 13:20:27 UTC
Rolling back to autoconf-2.57(no 'a') does not fix it, same error. Rolling
back to autoconf-2.54-r1 gives me this:

>>> Source unpacked.
autoreconf-2.54: `aclocal.m4' is updated
configure.ac:28: error: Autoconf version 2.57 or higher is required

Comment 3 Caleb Shay 2003-10-03 07:46:02 UTC
Rolling coreutils back to 5.0-r4 and using autoconf-2.57a works fine, so
it's specific to the 5.0.91 version.
Comment 4 David Holm (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-10-05 13:48:33 UTC
I second this.
Also, portage says:
[ebuild U ] sys-devel/autoconf-2.57a [2.57-r1]
after installing 2.57a it says:
[ebuild UD] sys-devel/autoconf-2.57-r1 [2.57a]
Comment 5 Luca Barbato gentoo-dev 2003-10-24 19:23:59 UTC
seems an auto* issue probably reemerging all of them may help
Comment 6 Norberto Bensa 2003-10-27 22:50:16 UTC
Nope, I have re-emerge automake and autoconf, but I still get this:

Seems like something (in my case) is missing: autopoint?

Comment 8 Seemant Kulleen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-12-08 19:00:12 UTC
can y'all try this with the updated coreutils please?
Comment 9 Seemant Kulleen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-12-08 21:05:11 UTC
also to note, I've bumped m4-1.4-r1 to ppc stable, and now with that AND the new coreutils-5.0.91-r2, y'all should be sorted out. Please reopen the bug if I'm wrong about that.
Comment 10 Lars Weiler (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-12-08 21:55:38 UTC
Works on ppc (G3) with sys-devel/autoconf-2.57-r1 and sys-devel/m4-1.4-r1 (and only with that version currently).
