you re-emerged what ? glibc has no support for USE=ipv6. what nameservers are you guys using ? if they're ones you control, describe the exact software running on them. have you configured ipv6 on your systems properly ? or do you have a normal ipv4 network and you just have ipv6 enabled everywhere as a proactive measure ?
I don't have no issue any more. Maybe this was in fact a problem of the dns server I was using (which I don't control)? I certainly did not change any USEFLAG or re-emerge glibc ...

I also disabled the ipv6 support in the kernel. The DNS I am using is not under my control - it is part of the Swisscom-TV VDSL installation.

> > no, this bug report may be set to INVALID, since this obviously was a provider > issue. > I disagree. It was working with the previous version of glibc and is working fine with other distributions. Not to mention the M$ stuff. How can I interrupt the emerge process, so I have the patched and compiled source to do some testing / debugging? Is there a manual?

the bugzilla howto (see front page of bugzilla) documents how to build things with debugging support enabled. i imagine the gentoo documentation page has other guides too.
