Could be the same problem I am having except I can make it happen without Xinerama. See bug #301469

Please attach the output of nvidia-report-bug.sh (or whatever the script is called, don't remember exactly).

Thanks

Running nvidia-bug-report.sh.../usr/bin/nvidia-bug-report.sh: line 342: 4220 Segmentation fault nvidia-settings -q all 2>&1

This can't be a good sign.
Comment 8 David Olsen 2011-02-01 21:11:31 UTC
disable xinerama, start up X, change all the x server positioning to absolute in nvidia-settings, and then re-enable xinerama, see if that works for you

Need more info if this is still happening.
